01 January, 2010. WORD OF THE DAY!!
NEW AND FRESH: - NOVEL describes things that have not existed or have not been known or seen before.
NEW: - refers to something recently made, grown, or built, or recently found, invented, or discovered: a new techniques.
FRESH: - refers to something that has retained its original properties, or has not been affected by use or the passage of time: fresh strawberries; fresh ideas. NOVEL refers to something new that has an unexpected, strange, or striking quality, generally pleasing: a novel experience.
Michael Notion: we have just entered a new year, a new decade and it will be absolutely a whole new and fresh start to your life and it’s only God who can make the change permanent. A person connected to God is like a tree planted near fresh water: it will prosper and thrive, permanently connected to a source of life and God is our source of Life. God's followers are like trees planted at a river's edge, they remain green and healthy throughout their lives, producing good fruit.
Maybe you need to get on your knees today and say, "Lord, I need a fresh start, a fresh touch, some new victories, a fresh cleansing of the dirt I've allowed to accumulate all this times, a renewing of my attitude, a new Holy Spirit takeover from today." If you've been relying on yesterday's connections, a power failure is inevitable. Each new day from now, go for a new and fresh touch from God - today's connection for today's needs and tomorrow’s connection for tomorrow’s needs.
Maybe you've allowed too much toxic waste to get buried in your heart. Would you talk to Jesus about that new and fresh start right now, today? Let Him help you remove all that toxic garbage that contaminates you and frankly everyone around you. Then, instead of polluting your environment, you can be a breath of fresh air from today!
You can't let your personal Jesus-time be something you do occasionally from now or when you feel like it or when you can fit Him in to your busy schedule. Make your daily time with Jesus Christ non-negotiable. Everything else is going to have to revolve around your time with Him instead of what usually happens, your time with Him having to revolve around everything else.
Now most of us would not go to those kinds of extremes, but some of us do know the feeling of wishing we could start over, have a new start, get that fresh start, and move from a life that’s unfulfilling to a life that matters. Millions of us have discovered where new beginnings can be found. The Bible says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ). Now, that’s not just a new environment, but it’s a whole new and fresh you...
Bible Reference:
Psalm 92:12-15 (NIV)
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree;
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the LORD,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age;
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, "The LORD is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."
Possible Prayer:
From this time forward, I want to change the direction of my life and follow you. Give me a hunger for your Word and a desire to spend time with you every day. I pray that I would love you with all my heart and all my soul and all my strength. Help me to obey you without hesitation and be faithful to you until the day that I die. Help me to love others and to demonstrate my love through concrete actions. Protect me from all evil. Give me wisdom to make right decisions that honours God.

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given!!! Isaiah 9:6
For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given!!! Isaiah 9:6
Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
" 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, [a] Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
My Wonderful Counsellor...
We are a society of analysts without answers; counsellors without cures. I was a Finance and Business major in my MBA in University. In one class business analysis the professor admitted, "We have no answer for guilt but to tell someone they shouldn't feel guilty when things goes wrong!"
It was an honest confession of limits. Too often we ask counsellors of this world to do the impossible: mend broken souls. There is only one counsellor who can do that: Jesus Christ. Though Jesus never practiced psychology, He has healed more hearts, minds and souls than all others combined. I know He healed me! He is My Wonderful Counsellor and what about you?
The Wonderful One...
In light of the over 300 titles given to Jesus in the Bible, what a title for Isaiah to start off with! Whether it was a paralytic, a woman caught in adultery, the sick or the demon possessed, it’s how the hurting and needy and outcasts have always seen Jesus as a Wonderful Counsellor!
The Mighty God...
As the Mighty God, Jesus is strong enough to affect whatever change we need in our lives! He has the power over disease, darkness of life, depth of sin and even the grip of death!
I was talking with someone going through a divorce facing a battle with someone who had all the power, prestige and money. Yet, my friend had an even stronger advocate; the one who bears the title "Mighty God" who turns evil for good! He did in their case and He will in yours. Entrust yourself, your family, your business, your relationship and your health to the one who bears the title: The Mighty God!
Everlasting Father...
This title often confuses people but it shouldn't. It is an expression. There are many expressions in the Bible. Consider the phrase "a land flowing with milk and honey." Obviously, the picture is that of a fertile land. Or take Pharaoh having "stiffened his neck."
It doesn't mean he needs a chiropractor but that he was stubborn. "Everlasting Father" describes Jesus' relationship to us. Jesus will be the great care giver of our soul, our life, our dreams, our hurts and our despair. Unlike so many relationships we experience in life, His will be eternal. He will not walk out on us. He will not turn His back on us. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will save, shepherd, guard and protect us forever and will be with us in trouble, when we call upon Him, He will answer us, and He will deliver us and honour us. Now, that's what I call an Everlasting Father!
Prince of Peace...
Interestingly enough, this begins the first of Isaiah's 25 references to peace. For those of us under the threatening clouds of doubt, devastation, darkness, despair and death (as they were) an introduction is being made to the one who alone could bring peace by virtue of being its Prince. I know of some who reject Jesus as the Messiah because they say He has not brought peace. But the title "Prince of Peace" means that He removes all obstacles to peace between us and God.
God has never been at peace with my sins, nor is He at peace with some of our choices, decisions, attitudes and actions, but He is at peace with me through the one we call the Prince of Peace!
I can remember the first time I realized that because of Jesus Christ there would be no condemnation over me (Rom 8:1). I was in university and I had to fight back the tears of struggle. At that moment in time Jesus became to me what He has been ever since: The Wonderful One!
Now to me those are some impressive titles, but they pale in comparison to the titles given by Isaiah to this Saviour King. And who is this one Isaiah identifies as "Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace"? We simply call him, "Jesus Christ Our Saviour!"

31 Dec, 2009. Word of the Day!!
31 Dec, 2009. Word of the Day!!
DETERMINATION: - it means the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose or the quality of being resolute; firmness of purpose.
Michael Notion: Ask God to humble and renew you so you do not continue any bad patterns. The road to recovery is the renewal of your mind! Just focus and use the determination Jesus gives you to turn your life over to Christ as LORD! Make the Determination to Turn your Life over to Jesus Christ as LORD! This is about your response to God! For you to recover you must make the determination to turn your life over to Jesus Christ as LORD!
When you fail, when you’ve had a loss, you can do one of two things: let your defeat become discouragement, or let your defeat become determination. Champions aren’t people who never lose; they’re people who emerge determined to beat what made them lose.
Maybe you’ve messed up recently and you feel like giving up. Well, I love the defiant repentance of this statement from God’s Word: “Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light…He will bring me out into the light; I will see His righteousness…then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame” (Micah 7:8-10 ). Paul was a man who showed great determination in times of duress. He persisted in accomplishing his goals even when his friends pleaded with him through tears to protect himself.
The road to improvement or recovery is the renewal of your mind! Just focus and use the determination Jesus gives you to turn your life over to Christ as LORD! Ask God to humble you and renew you so you do not continue any bad patterns or go back to your old bad ways. This is a continual process. As long as there is a hint of a bad desire in you (and there will always be), you must centre yourself in Jesus Christ.
The incentive for us to surrender to Christ is that His Way is better than ours! You do not need the bottle or the smoke or the extra piece of pie, you just need Him. He gave us a gift we cannot fathom, yet alone earn the gift of grace and eternal life, so why would we not seek to please our Living, Loving Lord? Then Paul tells us that God’s will is for us to be willing and able to please Him and serve Him.
When you are growing and in recovery, you are pleasing Him and in so doing reaping the benefits and rewards too and this is accomplished when we are on guard so that the distractions of the sinful life do not entice, motivate, or divert us from Him and His plan for us! The call is simple: be willing to allow God to transform you—not the world. Simple? Yes, but it takes diligence effort from the trust we have in Christ to succeed! When we do this, our thinking, attitude, mindset, all that we are in thought, will change and then impact all that we do in life.
Bible Reference:
Acts 21:13-14 (Amplified Bible)
13Then Paul replied, What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart like this? For I hold myself in readiness not only to be arrested and bound and imprisoned at Jerusalem, but also [even] to die for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14And when he would not yield to [our] persuading, we stopped [urging and imploring him], saying, The Lord's will be done!
Possible Prayer:
